If you are visiting Hohhot, then you should visit the Dazhou Lamasery in the Old City. It was surprisingly quiet when we visited (after lunch on first Saturday in May) so we were able to get photos of the temple, rather than other tourists. About 7 mnts drive from the Holiday Inn Hotel there's this Dazhao Temple, easily spotted from a distant thanks to its bursting colors of its walls and roofs.
