Actually, as a friend has previously said, Santa Marta deserves a visit if you intend to go to Parque Tayrona. A daytrip costs about U$30 per person including entrance fees and boat to the beach. Just to add to what other people were saying about places to stay in Tayrona... When you arrive at the park there are 3 places you can stay. I stayed in Parque Tayrona for 3 nights a couple of years ago and slept in hammoks in one of the small establishments on Arecife Beach.
