Ok I knew it was there and obviously it's overshadowed by her husband's temple nevertheless it's an impressive monument in its own right and there are some lovely paintings inside.

There are two temples, one of Ramses II and one of Nefertari. Both are spectacular. Worth the trip!
We visited this following cruise on Lake Nasser the cruise finished at Abu Simbel – approaching these from the lake gives a true impression of just how impressive the two temples would have been some 4,000+ plus years ago – emphasising the message from Ramses of just how great he was and in total control of the area!

It is a little far to travel to, but well worth it. Don't miss this site if you have travelled to south Egypt. Bring plenty of WATER. I used a Camel back and it was great for the day. It also kept my water cooler than everyone else.
The paintings were in excellent condition, hard to believe they are as old as they are. After seeing much of Italy and Rome Egypt is the place to experience what ancient buildings really looked like. They are in much better condition and worth the trip

He liked to have his statues all over the temples in the reign he once ruled and depicted himself as a god. A statue is identified by the name written next...
