I was in a tour group and Mt. Sinai was on the itinery. We were told the the climb up should take about 4 hours and the way down, about 2 hours. Since my spouse has had 4 operations on his knees over the last 20 years and I have had a severely sprained ankle a couple of years ago,... more

We have just arrived from a trip to Mount Sinai, and have returned to our hotel with mixed experience. First of all; the walk up to the mountain top is fairly easy, and should be no problem if you are in an fairly good physical state. It will take you 2 1/2 hours from the St. Cathrine Monastry, but the... more

I have been there twice. Once as a tourist and once as a tour leader. Sinai Mountain is a very difficult trip for everyone, fit or not fit (I had a group of 11 people all fit for mountain climbing-but in Europe not in the desert!!). The trip is exhausting (4 hrs climbing)especially because the mountain has nothing but sand... more

I climbed mount sinai in october 2008 and found that it was one of the best experiences of my life. Im 50 years old and didnt use a camel but it is a hard climb. The guide was friendly but pushed you to make sure you reached the top on time. I sat on the top with a muslim man... more

One of the coolest things I think I have ever done in life was climbing up Mt. Sinai in the middle of the night to watch the sun rise. Do it if you have the chance!! It's chilly though at night, bring warm clothes in layers that you can remove, because in the morning, it warms up fast. more

Went to mount sinai on march 2008 and loved it! its a beautiful experience, the colors of the sunrise are so unique!, though its very exhausting. If you have any physical problems, for example if your knees hurt from time to time, or you get tired or breathless very fast, i would really recommend to take one of the camels... more

One of those unforgettable experiences, climbing and sleeping on God's mountain. However a few cautions should be noted. . . Before you begin the ascent, guards will inspect and pull out everything in every pocket of your backpacks, so be warned! The track has a lot of loose gravel which is very slippery, watch where the bedouins walk and follow... more

We did an organised trip climbing Mount Sinai on our first visit to Sharm, from Sharks Bay, in 2005. Here is an insight into our incredible experience - we were collected from our hotel at 11.30pm and coached to the Sinai area (quite a journey from where we were). We started our climb and were offered camels which were very... more

we decided to go on the mount sinai trip when we stayed in taba, even though the guide said not to! how hard could it be? after just an hour of walking through the pitch black we decided to hop on one of the hundreds of camels passing by instead of carrying on up the even steeper bits! we were... more

Had a great trip walking up the mountain watching the shooting stars the sky was so clear, I have never seen so many stars. We tiik torches with us which was a blessing as it was so dark and the path quite uneven. The camels going up with people were a bit disconcerting and came silently out of the dark... more
