The Old market is just wonderful. The hussle and the noise and the great selection of things to see. I visit the old market every time im in Sharm. People are so friendly. Yes they want your money, but that is their lively hood. I travel there alone and I have never ever felt intimidated never. I recommend you visit this... more

Very dirty but traditional, if you sick of Naama or just want a change, this is a great place to come. The people are abit more friendly, still after your money though. There is and amazin cafe up in the mountain called the candles restaurant which is amazin and they do a show at 10pm! Old market is brilliant for... more

We (my husband and myself, typical tourist) went to Old Market on thursday in the morning about 11.00. It was quiet, there were a few tourists and a few salesman called from the entrance of their shops. But we let them know we weren't interested by holding up our hand, saying: schukran la (witch means thanks no). Most of them... more

DO NOT go to this market if you want to enjoy your holiday! the shopkeepers will intimidate and physically force you into there place of business and when you could nt possibly feel any more uncomfortable "let the haggling begin" !!! I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THESE PEOPLE THINK I WOULD POSSIBLY WANT TO BUY FAKE PRODUCTS AT TWICE THE PRICE... more

Ever since the disagreements with the Bedouins and the explosion that followed, the old market as I knew it has been replaced with shoping centres and once dubbed 'real egypt' it has now just become an extension of Naama Bay. Gone have the old butchers, meat shops and stalls and now replaced by flasing lights, shops selling tourist wares with... more

We just got back from Sharm and I must say visiting the old market was much more pleasant than Nama bay, where the merchants are sharks. Shopping is not a reason to go to Sharm but visit the old market for an hour or so, it's ok for that long. more

Yep, it's hustle n bustle but, compared to Na'ama bay this is the market to go to! Old Sharm is Eygpt diluted, eveything can be barted for & is cheaper than Na'ama. The square which is cut out of a hillside & has a waterfall flowing down it (manmade me thinks) is charming. My advice is go there an hour... more

Yes you can get some bargains but the hassle from the shop owners can be intimidating. There are more traders with the same tat wanting the money that is in your wallet and fewer British tourists going to Sharm who spend money (unlike the Russians etc) If I see the phrase "come down to the local market and haggle with... more
