My first visit to Sharm El Sheik was in 1968, when there was not one building in the whole area! Just 2 cannons overlooking the Strait and the Suez Canal closed. Now there is this spread out city of resorts and hotels and a great market. Even though we were there on a Sunday, about one third of the shops... More

We thought this would be like the markets in Turkey - boy were we wrong. Nothing but hassle from start to finish and dodging cars at speed through the middle of the place. Stay in the hotel and save the taxi fare.

If your looking for real Egypt then this is the closest your going to get. It has the cheapest shops in Sharm, but be warned you must be ready to barter, to get hasseled and also be ready for dirty streets! It can be a fun place if you like this sort of thing, if not then your best going... More

Bear in mind that Sharm only started being built in the 1980s and you will realise that 'old' is a relative concept. It is a nice enough couple of streets of shops, some utilitarian, most touristic, quite polite and not too pushy -- if you want to shop in the area, probably one of the better places to do so

the shop owners where worse with the looky looky situation than the small market which was up the road from aqua blu, got a beautiful belly dancing outfit and there are some great deals, would really recommend it
