The Sun Temple at Modhera is a great ancient temple to the Sun god. The kund outside the temple, the rang mandap and the sanctum sanctorum, together make a superb monument to spent a couple of hours at. The pillars and walls are decorated with excellent sculptures in sandstone. A must visit if you are anywhere near Ahmedabad.
