Coming from a country where deserts are red (Australia), I found the Little Rann of Kutch a fascinating remote white desert area which is easily approached with naturalists and vehicles from Rann Riders Safari Lodge. This inhospitable area mines salt, amazingly has a few places of worship far away from anywhere, and is home to a few interesting desert bird... More

We did three safaris into the almost five-thousand-square-kilometer Little Rann Sanctuary, which is a time-losing, vast, dry, flat and barren landscape with an incredible beauty all of its own. For more photos see this http://littleurl.info/92j One of the best excursions this year. Endangered animals, human apathy and service to humanity all in one trip. Add to it the wonderful people you meet who have been braving survival for what seems like an eternity.
