Shanti stupa gives you peace of mind the moment you land up at the site. The view of the valley from the stupa gallery is wonderful and you can see range of Himalayan mountains snow capped as well barren but the arrangement is such that you can just think of god and his magic is creating an unbelievable weather extreme... Shanti Stupa has been my favourite place in all the 4 visits to Ladakh. Especially in winter, it is a pleasure to walk up to by the long motorable route. The view of Leh from there is very nice. Also, in winters, it is full of snow. Beautiful.

The Shanti Stupa is a 10-15 minutes drive from the heart of Leh town atop a small hillock. Its a large Stupa with large concentric circles around it, pretty much on the lines of the Temple of Heaven at Beijing. Shanti Stupa is a Buddhist white-domed stupa on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh district. It was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura and it holds the relics of the Buddha at its base, enshrined by the 14th Dalai Lama himself .
