We got to see 10 minutes of make-up before the show started. Certainly glad we didn't go an hour early to see it because they just sat in silence whilst they did the delicate make-up! The show was an interesting thing to see, very different from anything else I have seen. There is a basic storyline which is dragged out... More

Oh I feel bad saying this, it was great but after 10minutes I was very bored, I left after an hour, but I am glad I saw it. I would reccommend sitting at the back and sneaking out when you've had enough. Worth seeing though

Even our fuzzy kids (4,9,13) enjoyed this 2,5 hour show. The introduction by the brahmin is necessary if you want to get out the most of the show. It explains many of the movements, signs and faces to the audience. We went back another evening for a raga concert - that was as good as the kathakali dance!

It was tourist heavy, but that was to be expected given the price (around $10) and the duration of the program. Most of the program entailed the lecture, while the performance was shorter. However, I very much appreciated learning to interpret Kathakali dance and the explanations. The performance was also superb.

The guys who run this show have really got it spot on! Had been warned that kathakali was pretty boring, but there was not a dull moment. The show starts with an explanation about the training the performers go through. Then we had a demonstration to show what the different eye movements, hand gestures etc mean. I had no idea... More

There are different shows and we saw the traditional dance show which is offered once a week. We did not see their Kathakali daily evening show since we saw this at the Greenix Village. We found Kerala Center to be more authentic and touristy than Greenix. If we had had more time, we would have seen another show here.

An excellent insight into the extraordinary art of Kathakali. Get there early to see the makeup.

Noone should probably leave Kerala without seeing Kathakali performance. Pity I was not able to make it for Kathakali dance. Attended drama performance and meditation in the centre which was also nice experience having handsome guy playing sitar and other guy playing tabla live.

The quality of the performance was fantastic, and for any one with an interest in traditional dance, this is one not to miss. We were treated also to a session watching each performer apply their make up. Really interesting to see this art form up close. After the dance, we stayed to enjoy traditional Indian music - tabla and sita.... More
