Ajanta caves are awesome.... from the time that one gets to Aurangabad, the excitement to see the caves begins..... and the first view of the caves takes your breath away... the beautiful horse show shaped caves depicting the buddhist way of thought is absolutely amazing.... the fact that they are over 2000 years old, helps to realize that our heritage... more

Excellent place to visit. Carry camera & shoes. To reach hire your own taxi from Aurangabad as local bus / shared taxi is not the best option. Visit the place with your family & friends. There are other local spots for visit. Also carry your food stuff along as there are not much facilities available at the location. more

The best time to visit the caves is in winter. It would be much better to hire a guide rather than leaf through a book. The guides are well trained and give you a better insight into how and when the caves were built. The best place to stay is the one and only decent hotel right across the caves-... more

The richness of the culture dating back to 2 BC is an eye opener. The detailing in the phaintings, sculptures is mindblowing. It is to be seen to... more

The murals are ancient and fragile and you are not allowed to get within about 8 feet of them. Unfortunately, the paintiings are quite small. Bring some binoculars to view... more

Ajanta has amazing cave paintings as well as ornate cave sculptures. Just be aware that you will have to walk through a market... more
