the monument is beautiful along side river daya where the great kalinga war was fought

Within 10 Kms on the Bhubaneswar - Puri main road, one has to take a small de-tour to reach the Dhauli Hills. Legend tells that this is the place from where Emperor Ashoka (one of the greatest Indian Kings) gave up war and followed Budhism.

this is a must visit place....emperor ashoka accepted bhuddhism after the famous kalinga war at this very location... evening is the best time to visit this place. nice and cool breeze and beautiful sunset made my trip memorable.

Dhauli is a Buddhist shrine atop Dhauli giri (hill). This place allows an all-round view.

This is nice excursion, about 45 mins away from Bhubaneswar. It is the site where the emperor Ashoka renounced violence and conquest and embraced Buddhism after the violent Kalinga war.
