we were too early for the museum but the palace which is a hotel was a real eye-opener to the wealth of the ruling family.

We were a party of 5, 4 of us stayed at Vijays Guest House while the other stayed at the Lalgarh. Our friend enjoyed her stay here, but we did not think her room was as good as the ones the rest of stayed in at Vijays for a fraction of the price.

Museum and Laxmi Vilas Palace are in the same campus.Museum is average but informative.Being in the same campus pay the entrance fee for the palace which is a better attraction and nice.First visit the museum, get all the historical information and then visit the Palace converted Hotel. We can also redeem our entrance fee at the restaurant in the palace.

The immaculate kept grounds, the freedom to roam within the Palace, the helpful staff who went out of their way to show us some of the rooms in the hotel section. Found it was a long walk back to the main road where taxis & autos were as none seemed to wait for custom outside the Palace gates.

Dr Karni Singh and his dotter Rajyalaxmi have really worked hard to make this museum what it is today and the staff there maintains it to the brim too! The place has lovely photographs of the royal family and it takes you back in time for a beautiful one hour experience! The person at the ticket counter also doubles up... More
