Just returned from North Sikkim after viewing Gurudongmar Lake. If you have a chance to see it - you will always remember this lake and the journey towards Gurudongmar from Lachen ( a small Village). We have started at 4 AM in the morning as one can have the best reflection of the snow capped pick in the water of... More

The arduous 6 hour long journey through non existent roads and snow capped mountains is so well worth it. Guru Dongmar Lake is heaven on earth. To get here, you have to spend the night at Lachen (laste transit point) and lave at 3:30 am for Gurudongmar. You have to leave the area before 11:00 am as the winds post... More

Not advisable for infants or children less then 10 years because of breathing trouble at high altitude. The roads between Mangan to Lachen are very steep, thin and need the driver to be very alert . The vehicle should be suited for this kind of terrain and please do not undertake this journey in the rainy season..

This is highest point in the world that me and my wife have ever set foot on and probably ever will - 17100 ft or 5136 m or 5 km above sea level!!!! We took a North Sikkim Tour with Gurudongmar lake as an option. There are tours without the lake, so ask before hand. It's an overnight tour with... More

Can't describe in words, need to visit there to feel the beauty....you will feel like you have reached the paradise when you visit this lake...however, precautions need to be taken as oxygen out there is very thin and people might have breathing problems after reaching at a height of 17500 ft
