After the Taj I was prepared for a let down. I was so wrong. The fort is a fantastic sight and the views of the Taj Mahal from the battlements were stunning. more

In addition to visiting the Taj Mahal, everyone should also check out the Agra Fort. It is well preserved and very beautiful. After the stark while of the Taj the red stone on the fort is striking. We visited close to sunset and the light was just perfect for our pictures. There is also less of a crowd compared to... more

The glory of this fort, brought out on ceremonial occassions pales in comparison with what could have been, had heritage been preserved in totality. The past cane never be preserved by letting a population overrun it, keeping the area around free of debris, unnecessary human interference will improve and keep this edifice alive many more hundreds of years. more

Best visited in late afternoon (light is excellent then). Suggest that after entering go straight to the back of the area open to the public and begin tour from there. As Indian Army still uses more than half the site, there will hopefully be more opened to the public in future years. more

It was a nice experience visiting Agra Fort. Always prefer to take a registered guide who can provide you all the correct information. Although a world heritage site, it is not that clean as it must be. You can find empty wrappers and water bottles here and there. Evening time there should be proper lighting in all parts of Fort.... more

We visited the fort on the same day we saw the Taj Mahal. Hearing the story about how Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan was imprisoned there for 8 years before his death gave special insight into the political situation at the time. He had a great view of the Taj, but was unable to go there to visit his wife's remains.... more

The white one was where empores received visitors on summer nights . The black one was used when Jahangir assumed his emporership at Allahabad, four years before... more

This is definitely something else you should do while in Agra. A lot of the fort was closed but there is still so much to explore. Similar in style to the forts in Delhi, but definitely a worthwhile visit. more
