Sang De made us very welcome, took us thru the markets, then we went to his home compound to meet family, talk about his family unit and the reasons for the layout of the buildings and temple, had a lovely morning tea, then on to preparing the food. Dewa was a great teacher, but I would like to see more... More

We can't rate this experience highly enough. From the fascinating tour of the local market, to the wonderful hospitality of the Lobong family (especially Sang De), to the fun hands-on cooking, finishing with the amazing food for lunch. And great value for money. Book it now. You won't be disappointed.

There are numerous places in Ubud offering traditional Indonesian cooking classes. This is one of the top-rated options and now I see why. There is an opportunity to see real Balinese life as its being lived. The information at the market and then at the family compound was amazing. I appreciated the chance to slow down and learn about a... More

From start to finish the family puts on a welcoming, interesting, interactive and hugely insightful morning. Foodies and cooking beginners can both get a LOT out of this, there were no kids on our course but I am sure it would be good for them too. 100% recommended, the highlight of our stay in ubud.

We haven't done any other cooking classes here but here are the reasons we would recommend this one: 1/ Morning market visit. This was a real clincher for us choosing this one in the first place, we love markets and seeing what people are selling and getting more information about the products than we could just walking around gawking. 2/... After promptly being picked up from my hotel, we were all taken to the local fresh produce markets and guided through the stalls and the produce that was for sale. After this Sang Made welcomed us... Efficient pick up and delivery from our villa was followed by a visit to the local markets, eye opening, before we were invited into the family compound for a n education on not only Balinese cuisine but also Balinese life. We took the kids and they too enjoyed the half day experience. The food is great and the friendly family... More
