simply - you just have to visit to experience the dead sea
We visited the Ein Gedi spa while staying at the Ein Gedi Kibbutz. It was a short bus ride between the two (though definitely not walkable). The pros: Had a wonderful massage, reasonably priced, enjoyed the whole mud/floating in the dead sea experience on the premises. The cons: Undergoing renovations right now, lots of barriers and temporary structures, the massages...

You don't expect much ? you won't be disapointed. The place is so crowded that the owners obviously don't feel the need to upgrade the facilities, though they badly need it. The changing rooms and lockers will remind you of the good (?) old days of grape harvest in California 100 years ago and the toilets, well, best is to...

Conveniently located in the Kibbutz, there is a free shuttle for guests at the hotel to the spa. It runs approx. once every hour, till 5pm (Apr).
You can get into the Dead sea for a swim or mud spa; or if you prefer to have a convenience and comfort of chairs/drinks... there are tubs of dead sea mud (filled...

at some distance from the kibbutz hotel it is regularly served during the day by air conditioned bus. The pool, etc is for you there, the 'train' is serving to the shore to swim in the sea.
If you expect a luxury spa, the type that you experienced in the USA, you will be more than disappointed. It is a little place. Don’t expect anything really grand. But it has everything you can expect for about $17 a day: big changing rooms, showers, outside pool, indoor hot mineral water pools, towels cost extra. They will take you...

Although it's a shuttle or car ride from the Ein Gedi Guest House to the spa, once there the pools, beach, mud baths, and mineral showers are easy to use and very pleasant. On a Thursday afternoon, there were relatively few people -- just enough to create some energy, but not overwhelming for using the facilities.
We had really low expectations, based on internet reviews, so we were actually surprised to see it wasn't that bad and ended up having a great time! If you are looking for a fancy spa, definetly go somewhere else, but if you don't mind the simple environment, you are probably going to enjoy it as much as we did. Even...

The positives: excellent photos of the Dead Sea. Lots of fun enjoyed by the whole family when using the mud. Floating in the warm water. Enjoying the freshwater pool. The store has good deals for Dead Sea souvenirs like mud and bath salt crystals.
The negatives: BRING SHOES for the Dead Sea - OUCH and OUCH again! The mud pits...
