I never understood why this place is so special! It is not giving me anything. The artist that built the place is a nice guy and I have seen the place developing over the last 8 years. But I do not understand it!

The tempel is amazing and we where lucky enough to meat the master of the tempel on our visit which made it really cool. There are so many details and special things that you can walk around for hours still seeing new stuff! The history is really interesting and I would recommend that you find some kind of guide to... Salute to Chalermchai Kositpipat, the designer of this gorgeous detailed artwork, also called the White Temple. I've seen quite a lot of temples in my travels, but this one stands out the most. It's also interesting that he installed a 'pond' of hands reaching up (and some holding skulls!), outside of the temple. And also paintings of pop icons as... More

This is the temple to cure the traveler's temple fatigue - it's like no other temple on Earth! From far away, it looks like a cloud floating in heaven, with beautiful fountains and pools surrounding it. But, as you come closer, you see the details which represent suffering and demons... then you go inside and see the dichotomy between heaven/hell,... More

A surprisingly unconventional Buddhist and Hindu temple. After probably seeing many conventional gold-and-red coloured temples in your travels, this will shock and intrigue you. It was designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat, who is a somewhat flambouyant and charismatic artist, construction began in 1997 and is ongoing. Don't be surprised to see workers making ornate decorations from plaster and small glass mirrors... More

A magical temple with spectacular architecture and amazing paintings inside which make strong contemporary political statements, e.g. image of World Trade Center disaster .

I’ve visited numerous Wats in Thailand. While many have particular attributes to set them apart from the others, to the casual observer there may not be a great deal of difference. Not so the Wat Rong Khun, located a little south of Chiang Rai. Its awesome beauty took my breath away. What sets it apart from other temples is that... More

If you are in chiang rai or chiang Mai do not miss this wat. Thailands fantasia . Still being constructed by a well known Thai artist. Although it was included on a day tour from chiang Mai to the golden triangle we could have spent hours here . An amazing construction with amazing detail. So many little things that all... More
