The place has one of the most beautiful gardens.... Have coffee at the small coffee place in the center of the gardens and just inhale the view.....

You can combine the Royal Villa with a tour of the Mae Fah Luang Flower Garden (same location). It's very inspiring to walk through the villa hearing (via audio) how the King's Mother changed the lives of the Hill Tribe people. The views from Villa are amazing as too is her flower garden.

Learn what great things the current King's mother had done for her subjects and how just simple things in life could help keep even Royalties happy.

You can see how simply living mother of two kings, and how the Thai people respect and appreciate her for that.

This place is amazing, especially when you consider it was constructed from recycalled timber. It is huge and the gardens so well kept. they have an audio tour which describes at different points all about that particular spot.

This is a lovely spot, gardens on the mountain side, but really is meant for the Thai people. The flowers that are exotic to the Thai's are North American every day variety, petunias, pansies etc. Its pretty, but not worth a special effort to get there.

Wonderful And inspiring testimony of a woman's love towards lives and nature. It was home of the king's mother and the house speaks for her although she has already passed away. The audio narration of her life and work enhanced our enjoyment of our journey. This is a humble abode of a woman who was willing to share herself, her... More

I had no expectations of the Doi Tung Royal Villa but I was pleasantly surprised. Even before getting on location, the winding road climbing the hill is quite pleasant in itself. Parking was easy and we purchased our tickets. You can purchase tickets for the villa only or for the gardens or both. Get both if you have time as... More

Only for those interested in Thai history and/or Thai antiques. But, it's next to the Mae Fah Luang / Doi Thung Flower Gardens, so if you are there, might as well stop in.

Definitely worth the visit. YOu can take a self-guided tour around the former residence of the King's mother. It's a Swiss cottage inspired building with Lanna touches to it. You listen to the commentary spoken through a pair of earphones, and as you walk around, you press the corresponding number shown at each space and listen to the commentary about... More
