Cool to be there at sunset time when it's quite empty and some local kids jumping off the water to swim, very lively neighourhood.

There is a lovely restaurant right on the river and you can watch the train go over the bridge in comfort. Have the snakehead fish for lunch - its ugley but the flavour is awesome
Bridge Over River Kwai and related sites (Hellfire Museum, Death Railway) are must-see sites in Kanchanaburi. In fact, a trip to Kanchanaburi to see these sites is a must!
We stayed at Thai Garden Inn where you can walk from the Inn down a country road to the bridge and cross over so that you approach town from the opposite...

If you are a history buff or someone who appreciates the sacrifices of the military the bridge is definately going to be very interesting to you. Have lunch and enjoy the day, you can get there by train from Bangkok. To drive is like 2 hours in heavy traffic. I would not recommend it as just something to do, it...

It's a nice historic place but there is nothing really special to see there except this steel bridge. On one side of the river you'll find restaurants and shops for tourists and on the other side you'll see the nature and some peasants houses. Several restaurants terraces with many tourists floated under the bridge so you can forget to take...

While walking on the bridge a train came and everyone had to scramble to go to the sides which jot out in places to accommodate the train. The history of the bridge brings back all the men who lost their lives during the construction of the bridge. You should visit the museum first to hear all about the history if...

The bridge is no longer the original one, which was made of wood and collapsed long ago. But the place is interesting. Forget the little Disney-type train, totally out of place. Cheap open air buffet restaurant with beautiful view of the bridge. Historically interesting but do not go there on purpose, rather on your way to Tiger Temple.
This bridge is the HISTORY. you ll enjoy the history, remember the movie and enjoy the beer or lunch. Can see the museum. Really is a good one day tour.Enjoy
If you have read up on your history, and you are in Kanchanaburi, you will want to visit the bridge. We went to the Death Railway Museum beforehand and found it very thought provoking and quiet, so it was a bit disorientating to come to the bridge and see all of the stalls, and quite a crowd of people on...

It was somewhat surreal to be walking over the bridge, knowing it's past. Even though the original was blown up, it was still a little weird
