Was nice to see the bridge over the river as part of our four day stay in Kanchanaburi - but knowing the true history behind it i.e. this river had its name changed as a result of pressure on the thai government after the hollywood movie was released is absolutely vital to fully understand and appreciate this site in the... more

Before going to visit the Bridge Over the River Kwai, make sure to at least have a basic knowledge of what transpired here during WW2. See the movie, and read about it on the internet so when you see it, there is much more appreciation of the situation. We took a tour with Diethelm Travel from Bangkok, also a private... more

We visited the cemetery at Kanchanaburi first and the small museum nearby, the cemetery is well worth visiting and is kept really well. We then took a long tail boat... more

It is good to walk on the bridge, cross to the other side and take pictures of the river below.... more

As a retired Australian Army Officer I now find the time to visit all of those places that I have read about from all theatres of war where Australians fought and died. Whilst Gallipoli remains the most significant of all the battles the Bridge on the River Kwai and nearby Death Railway has a significant place in the hearts of... more

We got to experience "Bridge over River Kwai" as a part of our day tour. After our visit to the Erawan National Park , the Australian War Museum and Hell Fire Pass, we got taken to the Train Station and waited for our train to take us over the Bridge. When we arrived at the station it was a quick... more
