We did a boat tour of kekova which was nice and well organized. Just don't expect to see much from above the water. We wanted to do a kayak trip but sadly, they weren't available for the few days we were staying in Kas.

As previously mentioned by others, this attraction is a bit overrated because you truly don't see much underwater as it's all hazy, even on a good calm day with the sun shining. You are not allowed to snorkel which is a shame because I am sure it would be so much more satisfactory. Do NOT go on this trip if...

Seriously, if you have a tendency to seasickness, don't go in the afternoon. Go the earlier the better. The site is less crowded and the sea is like glass. In the afternoon, the wind comes up and the sea gets rather choppy. The site leaves a lot to the imagination, literally. An extra bonus is the abandoned Byzantine Church on...

I wrote the "Underwhelming" review; having done so, I want to respond to the charge that the area is designated by Unesco, therefore it must be culturally significant. The view in that region, cynical but like many cynical remarks born of a slice of truth that is worth considering, is that the very wealthy and powerful families whose summer homes...

Kekova is a beautiful, historic site. The water is sparkling and so blue. The sunken city is not actually a 'city'. It is more like the outlines of a few walls. Nevertheless, the setting is serene, lovely and is worth the trip.
Turkey has many standing structures that give one a better glimpse of life then, including the inhabitants' architectural and engineering abilities. The ruins at Kekova are just that, ruins - low foundation walls, steps cut in the rock, cisterns cut in the rock. A nice focus for a boat trip, but little more unless you have specialist knowledge (I don't)....

Kekova is an amazing place. Protected area by Unesco, perfect place for boat trip, swimming and sea kayak. You should climb to old Lycian castle and look at the beautiful island view.
We used Define Tours in Kalkan to arrange a visit to the Sunken City of Kekova (Kekova Island). Tour picks you up at your hotel and brings you to the harbor of Kas for departure by boat. Several stops in for swimming and snorkeling in small, isolated bays with crystal clear waters. Views from boat as we pass along the...

We had our hotel arrange a sea kayak day tour of the sunken ruins, and they connected us with Conge Travel/Aventure. The guides were horrible - if your hotel arranges the tour for you, ask what company they are using to make sure you aren't using them. The main guide (tall, skinny guy, didn't catch his name although he said...

Went with Le Conge tour group in June 2011. I was pumped to hear there were underwater ruins, but you can't dive or snorkel the ruins, the closest you can get is to join a kayak tour. First you drive from Kas to the town closest to Kekova, then board kayaks, paddle to a tiny beach filled with the other...
