Uchisar Castle is a huge rock just a few km from Goreme - criss-crossed with rooms, tunnels etc. It is easy to understand why it must have been so important in the past - it can be seen from all around the area (it features on a lot of photos you take - even if you didn't notice at the... More

Great place to bring a bottle of wine and watch the sunset if it is not a cloudy evening, lots of stairs, highest point of the area; not much there but the view is worth the trip.

Great view that is achieved with a very short hike. I suggest going near sundown when the Mosque's are announcing the call to prayer, it is enchanting.

A very interesting castle with great views of the surrounding area at the top. Quite safe to walk to the top, first part of the ascent is inside the castle, the last part is on the outside using steps and path. There are some areas around the edge of the castle cordoned off for safety but in general its fine to walk... Astounding views of the surrounding terrain. Not as hard to climb as it appears.

Cappadocia region is incredible overall with its unique nature. Uçhisar Castle is a great representative of what to expect from your trip in Cappadocia. It takes about 15 minutes to climb up the castle through the ancient stairs. The tiring climb will be worth your while once you get to the top of the castle and look around to see... More

We were staying in Uchisar village so the castle was just a few minutes walk up the hill from our accommodation. The castle is hewn out of the rock and worth a look. It only cost TL 5.00 and could be completely explored in 40 minutes. Right next to the castle there are some other rock dwellings that you can... More

While this may not be as historic or touristic as the Goreme Open Air Museum, you don't have to deal with the crowds and that is a big bonus. Plus, the view from the top is simply stunning. Enjoy yourself and bring a lunch to snack on when you are there. Pro Tip: Bring Enough to Share!!!

Since the unfortunate death of a tourist who fell whilst taking a photo, this is just a photo opportunity between the cameras of lots of other tourists
