Be aware that you will be in small spaces and if you are at all claustrophobic, you might want to pass.

Excellent historical caves, and hundreds are still in use. Go to the Open Air Museum to explore the caves and Cave Churches.

the cave dwellings are a good day trip for day on your departure from Cappadocia because they do not take much time to tour. When a I was a child I read an article about Cappadocia on National Geographic, and since then I have always wanted to visit the place. People carved out houses. It lies on high plateau that is pierced by volcanic peaks. Go get there, take local tour agency.

The Cave Dwelling are definitely something to see given that it is such a vast network of underground rooms and passages. If you're too tall or too wide be warned though since the passages can be a tight squeeze and some parts require a bit of bending. The caves are amazing because of how expansive the caves are and just... More

Some of the carved-out cathedrals are fairly intricate. I would highly recommend visiting Cappadocia. This site is extremely well-preserved. These underground caves would be especially interesting for older children to visit, as it might spark their interest in history and the habits of people from the past.
