I realize Goreme is the obvious stop for tourists looking to see the caves and frescoes of Cappadocia but we enjoyed Zelve much more. We used a local taxi to get to each site and that gave us the flexibility to spend as much time as we wanted here. Certainly there were less tours and less frescoes than Goreme but... more

This place is like a smaller Goreme to me. It was definitely a shorter visit. At Zelve, there are less frescoes to see. But you get to climb up a make-shift ladder into an upper room. That was pretty fun. more

My travel guide listed Zelve as a thing to see but not as nice as Goreme museum... well the difference is that in Goreme you have to see, in Zelve you have to do! And this was much more fun for me. If you have your own car it is better, because the bus just leaves you at the beginning... more
