This place is really somewhere to sit down, look from side to side exploring your surroundings, and then let your jaw drop. Deep in Western Turkey is my favorite ruin in all of Asia Minor. In 1998...so time to return and see if it is the same, better, or worse. Fantastic trip -- fascinating day wandering around ruins on a sunny May day == hardly anyone else there and red poppies growing wildly out of ancient gorgeous stones. Aphrodisias has got to be one of my favourite sites in Turkey so far. We decided to escape from the quite horrendous Kusadasi, where we were staying, and take a two night trip by car across to Pamukkale.
