I had hoped there would be more in the museum itself but many of the treasures are housed in Berlin and replicas are all you can see. The collection of statues is, however, impressive.
The statue of Aphrodite and other finds from nearby Allianoi in the Valley of Kaikos are probably all that will be saved as it is now...

Amazing museum, in great condition with exquisite ancient artifacts; a real sleeper.
Bergama as been told Pergamon is also the land where the parchment is founded.... So even this makes it one the most important world heritage.
Bergama is known as one of the oldest and powerfull Anatolian Civilisation, as well as founder of Hierapolis. Cause in Bergama the medical science was much more developed then any other city on it's centuries....

Bergama is a town with a huge acropolis, remains of which are still being unearthed.
If you stay in the town itself with its clutch of hostels (and an excellent restored old hamam), then to visit the site, you are best to walk up the hill and along the road to the entrance, which is marked by a road barrier...
