My family and I enjoyed some time in Ismir as part of a cruise ship holiday. We prebooked a tour with a company called MELITOUR. We could tell from their website that they were a company with huge experience in the tour industry and we expected a professional approach. What we did not expect is how warmly we would be... more

We were fortunate to visit the ancient city of Ephesus along with what is widely recognized as the dwelling where the virgin Mary was thought to have resided during her final days. This also included the site of Saint John the Apostle's church and one of the remaining pillars from the Temple of Artemis. It's a splendid tour that was... more

If you are going to Turkey, take 1-2 days to travel to Izmir and then out to see Ephesus. It is certainly worth it. Arriving here, we saw city remains dating back to 2 BC. The size of the structures and Roman craftsmanship is mind-blowing. What amazed us the most is that what we saw was only 15% of the... more

We stopped in Kusadasi on a cruise and hired Celsus Travel (Bekir tours) for a private tour to Ephesus. Traveling between Kusadasi and Ephesus was so interesting; the port area is a vacation resort, mainly for Europeans, and the landscape is not unlike parts of southern California. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. With just the 3 of us, we could... more

We were staying at Gumbet - best forgotten - and decided to go to Ephesus. In Gumbet you are constantly harassed by people trying to sell you something. Chose QUEEN TRAVEL and were told it was 2.5hrs - 2.75hrs to Ephesus. What they did not tell us was that there was a one hour stop at a remote location for... more

The Mother of all ruins. Huge....and with that, Ephesus is said to contain the largest collection of Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean region with only an estimated 15% of the site having been excavated to date. It's phenomenally large. Spectacular to ogle and ponder even if you didn't bother to find out what everything was. But if you're there,... more

The ancient city of Ephesus will provide you information of the old civilization. The stones, monuments, pillars are a must to see. It is suggested that you coordinate your trip to a tour agent so you will be with a tour guide who will explain to you the essence of what you see. Otherwise, the stones, pillars, etc. would be... more

The Roman ruins at Ephesus were spectacular but I rated it less than excellent due to the crowds (even in late Sept.) and the additional costly ticket for visiting the best preserved hillside houses. I suggest that you early in the morning to avoid the crowds. Our tour guide also ushered us along and did not allow us enough time... more
