Would have liked to have spent more time in this market. Interesting shops with very nice people. If you like to bargain you will have an enjoyable time.

No matter what you are looking for, you will find it here. Quite a lot of shouting, but the atmosphere is great. You can easily spend a whole day at Kemeraltı.

Compared to the Grand Bazaar, this is much smaller and it is also more pricey.

Entering from the Konak Square, tens of small streets mostly closed to trafic, take care of the mess of all kinds of bikes and porters, hundreds of shops selling everything apart from transport vehicles, handworks of carpet-leather-glass-metal-textile-jewelry,lots of tiny restaurants-coffee houses, alcohol serving at fish restaurants, inexpensive everything including cheap Chinese exports, antique shops - but selling just old hosewares - nearby the "Kadınlar Hanı" which... Kemeralti Market is a great bazaar for shopping cheap. You can almost find anything you want from clothing to kitchenware. The place it settles down is a kind of a maze so try not to get lost :)

you will find it at Kemeralti. Especially when you are looking for leather jackets. But be careful when a cruise ship is in town ... prices are much higher when you are a tourist. You have to deal, don't accept the first price they tell you.

One of the best places to understand Turkish Culture. You can find all kinds of people, different types food, and goods from clothes to electronics there. Also have some historical mosques and bazaars inside but I would recommend a native guide to visit them.

Although listed as June 2011 travel, I have been there many, many times. Make sure you either know your way around or take a Turkish friend. There are many stalls on many small avenues which can get you turned around quite easily. Remember to barter, it is half the fun. But please be respectful and know the value of something... More
