Walking around old town is very relaxing. The area is wonderfully preserved and there are many stops you can make along the way. Restaurants abound and souvenir and trinket shops are scattered all over as well. One tip I would make is that while it is nice walking around during the day, there is a certain charm to seeing the... More

Beautiful and relaxing place, be sure to check out the lighthouse! Lots of friendly people there. We got totally tourist trapped by the prices of a restaurant! Be sure to check prices beforehand

This is a great place if you enjoy quiet, ancient places that managed to retain their original charm. As pointed out by the (local) tour guide, some of the properties in the historic city are sold to foreign investors, therefore they are poorly maintained. Such speculation with property causes local people to move to the suburbs of the town and... More

We took the one hour ferry over from Buenos Aires and it was simple and easy to do. Remember that you will be going through customs and immigration both ways since you are leaving Argentina. Do not forget your passport which is stamped showing that you paid the "recip fee" that you paid when you entered the country from the... More

My day tour to Colonia was a nice change - from the hustle bustle of Buenos Aires to a quiet relaxing atmosphere. I booked online through BsAs4U before leaving Australia and they were really good. I went for the 'fast boat' option to have more time in Colonia. If not, it takes 3 hours for a one way boat ride.... More

Walking the streets was wonderful, whilst there is evidence of modern addition to some of the building the streets remain unkept, and there is a wonderful Spanish-andalucian feel to the buldings. Amongts the building are a mix of restaurant, many of which front the street and have chairs and tables out the front to take it all in. Highly recommended!

My college aged daughter and I took a fast ferry day trip from Buenos Aires. There aren't must see attractions, it was the atmosphere that was attractive to me. The quiet pace was most welcome. We visited on a Friday in February and it was pretty empty. We wandered around chatting as we took in the old buildings and shops.... More

We decided to visit Colonia with ferry boat(Buquebus) from Buenos Aires.Return ticket is quite expensive, 404 Argentinos pesos(per person), for economy class. We were exited to visit in a town - Unesco World Heritage Site and we were very disappointed how small the old town is . This is a pleasant enough place to while away an hour or two, but... More
