2800yen for return ticket can be a bit too expensive. But the view is awesome especially in fall - with autumn color of leaves. You can see Northern Alps up-close.

Went up the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway on a snowy day, so we were already prepared for not having a view. The snow was so heavy that on the second part of the ropeway, we couldn't even see 10 metres in front of us. There is a transit stop between the 2 parts of the ropeway, which is about a 50m walk....
