I visited the Toshogu shrine in Nikko on a bus tour from Tokyo. Entrance to the shrine for most folks is from the parking lot where you just follow the signs to the gate. Nikko is definitely worth a day trip from Tokyo. About 1.5-2hours north by train, it is a nice little town to go to. As a part of my trip to Nikko, one of the shrines I visited was the Toshogu Shrine. This along with the Futarasan Main Shrine and the Taiyuinbyo (all in the same area) really makes the trip... more
