The park and the museum commemorates the 100,000 soldiers and the over 100,000 civilians who died in the Battle of Okinawa. The former post is correct in saying that visitors will get a fantastic cultural and educational experience here, but I would like to correct the statement that the park offers a "Japanese perspective" of the war to "Okinawan perspective." Peace Prayer park is an excellent educational/cultural experience. You will learn about the war from the Japanese persepective. The museum sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean, the grounds are beautiful. Located in the Park, they have a "mini" wall, just like the one in Washington D.C.
