This is an extraordinary garden in every season, and it doesn't have the number of people you will find at the 'Top 3' which makes it even more enjoyable. Take a bus from the main station, you'll do enough walking in the garden! Don't miss the interesting museum which closes 1 1/2 hours before the rest of the garden.

We really enjoyed Ritsuri Koen. One of the best parks we've seen across Japan. Delightful tea houses where one can enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake on a tatami overlooking the ponds, as well as assist to a traditional tea ceremony. The price of the entrance is totally worth it! We were luck enough to visit... More

A rather long ugly hike from the train station, but worth it. A beautiful classical Japanese garden. I viisted in prime cherry blossom viewing time, but it is apparent that this is a place that is probably beautiful during most of the year. Like the idea that I saw about three other foreigners when I was here.

Ritsurin Garden, located south of central Takamatsu, is a formal Japanese-style garden that was created by local lords and later made accessible to the general public. It's quite large and contains a wide variety of plants, so no matter when you go (except perhaps the dead of winter), there should be something in bloom. Some of the most interesting areas... More

This beautiful park rivals the great gardens of Kyoto, well worth visiting if you're in Takamatsu.

Ritsurin garden in Takamatsu is simply beautiful. While Takamatsu is off the beaten track it is well worth dedicating the time to see Ritsurin garden. For those staying in Kyoto it makes sense to combine the visit with Korakuen garden in Okayama. It is ca. 1 hours trip on Shinkansen between Kyoto and Okayama and another one hour trip on... More
