The Kundasang War memorial is a must see if you ever reach Kundasang. It is build to commemorate the brave Australian and British Prisoners of War who died in Sandakan and during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II. It's also one of places to take picturesque photo's and actually kinda romantic. Whenever I stop by at... More

The Kundasung War Memorial and Gardens is a must see when you are visiting Sabah. The work that Mr Sevee Charuruks and his staff have done over the years to turn what was a derilict and almost forgotten place into the magnificant memorial and gardens that it is today, is nothing short of a miracle. In recent years DVA through... More

This is an excellent memorial to a little known part of the war. Australians in particular will be moved by the stories and quotes from the POWs. Well worth a visit if you have an interest in history.

As an Australian, I had no idea about our role in Borneo during the war. The memorial is well kept and it is worth a trip to show respect to those who suffered greatly for our freedom!

It was my 2nd time visiting and it has changed remarkably. Its now been cared for by Mr. Sevee Chararuks (hope got his name right) and team. There is a video presentation which was done by the Australian Channel 9 , where the whole story of the soldiers (who died in terrible circumstances) is shown. I never been so emotional... More

I was advised to visit the Kundasang War Memorial by a friend. She spoke of the lovely gardens and the sadness of the soldiers' story, but I did not realise until I got there, that it was an Australian and British War Memorial. To read the stories of the atrocities of the camps and the Ranau Death marches, I was... More

Kundasang War Memorial is approx 6 klms from Mt Kinabalu Park heading towards Poring Hot Springs. It serves to commemorate the lives of almost 2,000 Australian and 700 British Soldiers who were sent on 3 death marches from Sandarkan to Ranau. More still were starved and beaten to death. There are articles and testimonials and a very moving video (made... More
