We did the climb to mount Kinabalu last week. Still after 8 days my legs are in pain. really the biggest challenge in my life, and that is something coming from someone who can run a marathon. The climb is beautiful itself and the view from the pick is unforgettable but the road, specially descending is terrible, really , really... more

We booked our clim through Kuoni and it is definitely better to stay at Laban Rata than the other accomodation. But if you have a reasonable level of fitness e.g. go to a gym a couple of times a week, you'll be fine. It's tiring and challenging but absolutely worth it. We could go to the summit becuase of the... more

It was an excellent experience, and, if I would have to give one and only tip, it would be - have warm, waterproof cloth: shoes, gloves, jacket, hat, and a good head torch. The last part towards the peak at night, with a small rain, I was feeling miserable. But, all in all, it was awesome. PREPARATION Cloth: warm and... more

Mount Kinabalu is one of the few mountain that is over 12,000 ft and yet scalable by ordinary people without mountain climbing skills. One private company has taken over the accommodation from Sabah parks and the result is that price has greatly increased. Nevertheless, it is still a worthwhile trip if you want to climb a relatively high mountain. My... more

When we came to Mount Kinabalu Park we realized that the cost of climbing after countless fees is more than US$200 or for my family it's over US$600. Not a package tour - just cost of climbing including fees and compulsory bed in dormitory. The mountain is really nice but it is certainly not value for money. more

Maybe it was nieve of us not to have prebooked but everything i read said we could organise it from there. Turns our april may and june are the... more

We have just come back from a wonderful 3 week holiday in holiday in Borneo (April) the highlight of which was a climb of Mt Kinabalu. It is a fantastic experience for anyone who is reasonably fit and does not suffer from and recurring leg or ankle injuries, but do be prepared for some hard graft and some pain for... more

A 2 day trip to climb Mt Kinabalu in Sabah, Borneo, is highly recommended as a great family experience or to go with a mate. My husband and I are in our mid-40s and our 10 yr old and 14 yr old came with us. A reasonable level of fitness is required, we didn't train for it but it would... more

The highest mountain in South Asia country, located in Sabah, Malaysia. This mountain climbing at least needed 3 days to join the exciting package tour. Day 1 : arrived KK town, go to Kinabalu National Park checkin for preclimbing register. Day 2: 9.00am start climbing from Mesilau gate entrance, take about 6-10 hours to resthouse at Laban rata at 3200m.... more

Others i met at the base of the mountain able to complete in 6 hours or less. I even hire a guide and a potter to carry all my belonging,... more
