The Park itself has 16 trails, of which most are half day or shorter- one way, they all start on the head quarters from there you either can go left or right and you will meet some other people passing who do the same or similar trails. For longer trails you need at least 5 hours 1 way, so not... more

We read the reviews of Bako on TripAdvisor before going, so were prepared for the worst, but were pleasantly surprised! It is a beautiful park, and we wanted to maximize our chances of seeing wildlife so decided to stay the night. We stayed in Semi-detached Lodge A (Room 1), which was absolutely fine. Not the Hilton, but as experienced travellers... more

Bako is a great place to visit for a day, there are some interesting trails to go on but don't expect to see wild life swinging from the trees. I tracked for 8 hours and 7 kms in the jungles of Bako and didn't even find so much as a frog. the staff are lazy and unorganized, they don't even... more

Is Bako worth visiting? Yes, absolutely! I extended my stay in Kuching a day to go with a tour group to Bako and it was well worth it. I booked with a popular tour company and was told that there would be 11 other people from the Damai resort area, which would make the group outing disappointingly big. When we... more

We planned to stay 3 nights at the Bako Nationalpark and finally left after 2 nights, because we could not stand it anymore. First the good thing: The nature is absolutely great, nice tropical forests - we saw Irrawadi Dolphins on arrival, Proboscis Monkeys, Flying Lemure with baby, monitor lizard and all. BUT, whats really annoying about this governmental run... more

If you visit Bako National Park you must stay overnight for at least one night. The animal activity in the evening,at night, and in the early morning are just to fabulous to miss. Having said that there are some problems with the facilities. The staff haven't learnt that being nice to visitors is a good thing to do. Their attitude... more

Stayed in Bako National Park for 3 nights in early April 2009. My 2-star rating is due to the park hostel and not the park itself, which is a great place. It is really worth visiting, but you must be prepared for the poor standard of accommodation. Most of the chalets have 4 rooms (each of them with 4 beds)... more

My husband and I spent the day in Bako on a 3-night visit to Kuching. It was by far the highlight of our trip. We took a taxi from Kuching (RM 40 each way, negotiated down from 50) and it only took about 20 minutes. The boat ride to the park was about 20 minutes as well (we read they... more
