This Russian Orthodox church sits behind the bronze statue of Peter the Great. Can't miss the dome gold plate entrance with a series of angels. There is no presence of religion just a mirror of tons of paintings by Russian artist. Columns, granite and marble makes up this beautiful cathedral. too many workers and scaffeling around to enjoy. many of the icons were not there and just copies in their place.

Good thing to do when you start your visit in St Petersburg is to climb (ab 200 staires) to the top and get a good view of the city. Unfortunately the inside was closed (on wednesdays) so we didn`t see that.

It's my favorite place in St.Pete. Don't think too much of inside but it's definately worth visiting the tower if you dont have problems climbing stairs - nice view over City and square.

Note that the French and Italian architects built most of St Pete and this is a great example. If you are expecting Russian architecture here you will not be pleased
