I have been into studying the last Russian Imperial Family. Especially reading and studying the photographs of their offical home, the Alexander Palace. The outside of this beautiful building is slowly decaying from neglect, few windows had been smashed and coloums crumbling. Each time I go to St Petersburg, I have gone to Alexander palace. There is so much more to it than meets the eye. Thankfully the crowds continue to throng to Catherines Palace next door - that leaves AP for me! In fact, the most people I have seen there on a day is about 10. This puzzles me, but... more

Of course the Alexander Palace doesn't even begin to compare with its larger and much more ornate neighbor, Catherine's Palace. And I don't think many tourist have the energy to take on yet another palace after they've toured that one.
