If you don't like military stuff - don't come here since this place is full of it. The collection is very large and for anyone with the slightest military interest, this should be a must when visiting St Petersburg. Some advises: 1. I found two signs in english: "Toilet" and "Display starts here". The rest are in Russian, so unless... More

This is an excellent collection and is well worth a visit. Also has a nice little good value cafe.

A huge building stuffed with cannons, swords, radios, missiles, etc. It has one spectacular thing: a showpiece Royal War Chariot. Great military gift shop (models, games, books) as well as a memoribilia shop where they sell genuine articles. I also saw a small firing range but I did not have time to try it. Marches play over the loudspeaker in... More

Lots and lots of stuff for military buffs. True appreciation of all that is exhbited, though, is hampered by the fact that all the narrative displays are only in Russian.

Weapons and artillery old and new. You will like this place especially if you are Kalichnikov fan: they have a whole room dedicated to him (stuff includes his doctoral cap and gown) and a spercimen of every single one of his AK models. Plus even a jeep named the Kalichnikov

The museum is placed in a central location, in the northern part of the Petropavlovskaya Krepost, in a spectacular three-storey fortified barracks building which would be worth a visit on its own. Outside and inside, you can find dozens of artillery pieces ranging from the Napoleonic era to modern SAM and SS missile weapons. There are some thematic exhibits, too.... More

To be sure the museum is an enormous treasure trove of cannon, vehicles, uniforms, ancient guns, dioramas and such - but it is also reads like a history book of Russia and is part of the integral culture of Petersburg, which historically, was always a military town. As you progress through the museum you also progress through the many wars... More

For a military history buff, this museum is a must-see. The outdoor vehicle collection is on par with that at Aberdeen Proving Ground, and the indoor exhibits far surpasses that US museum. It's located just behind the Peter and Paul Fortress, less than a five minute walk from either entrance to the fortress. I think I paid 300 rubles ($12... More
