We visited Shamian Island In August of 2006 and found it to be a great place to shop. Many, many shops and GREAT DEALS! You can't beat the prices anywhere. A relaxing area to shop and less hectic than many of the other areas of Guangzhou. The stores are very friendly and eager to please. more

Very very quiet place - unless you're a huge fan of standard european architecture don't go there except for peace and quiet. Only 4 or 5 shops, we could only fine 2 places to have coffee, one of which Lucy's is very good - other than that we cold only spend 1/2 hour max there without getting bored. more
