It is a big museum with a lot of things to see, so it is better to read and choose what you want to see rather than trying to see all as it will be tiring.
The museum is laid out very well and gives a detailed yet simple time line of the dynasties. Definaty recommend to traveller in Xian to fill in time after visiting the terracota warriors. Get there early and buy VIP pass for 40 rmb to skip the line!
one of the must-go in Xi'an lots of valuable exhibits, telling the history of China However, it's crowd but still worth visiting
This place was a great place to visit and the trick is to walk though initially with your guide and make a note of what section that you want to go back to. You could spend a few hours here as the exhibits were wonderful and explained a lot about the history of China.

Definitely worth a visit (I made a day of...

The queue is soooo long, and we have to fall in line roughly 30minutes in order to get inside the museum. One great thing about this...

What an absolute surprise. We went to Xi'an like most people for the Terracotta Warriors. The museum was a great additional treat. Very well presented exhibitions. I recommend you get a guide who knows the history.
