Biggest toursut attraction in Huabgzhou but well worth it. Very scenic lake, spectacular colourful wáter shows in the evening, lots of shops and restaurants along the lake front.
dislike the amount of people ,we travel on a chinese holiday ……the lake is beautifu and magnificent .
I went at the start of December, when the weather was much cooler, there was clear sunshine and the leaves had turned. The walks around the lakes were breathtakingly beautiful.
Having been to Beijing's summer palace, I thought West Lake was nothing really new. In fact, I would rate Beijing's summer palace higher although historically, West Lake has been around longer. The lake is about 10km in circumference so if you are reasonably healthy, you can walk non-stop around the lake at a fast pace in 2 hours. If you... More
i followed tour, so some of the sceneries wasnt taken well. As it was autumn, hence the night falls earlier. We reach at 4pm just in time for the boat and to walk around the park. It was a good time as we managed to capture the day and evening scene. The red leaves during autumn certainly added some flavours... More
The best season to visited West Lake will be spring and autumn because the weather is comfortable and less mosquitoes. The summer is very hot (38 c plus) and very dry and cold in winter. In spring you can join the willow breaking and blossming. Summer can visit the lotus, autumn for maple, winter for snow in broken bridge. The... More
A lot of Chinese tourist come to this place. You can rent bicycles to make a ride around the lake. Many small pedalos in the form of traditions boats are also available. This is a typical place for the Chinese people to spend their Sunday afternoons. We wouldn't recommend this place as "a place to be".
I just love the West Lake. It's one of these few places in China where you can feel the legends associated to it. It is a must see in Hangzhou and therefore can get crowded on weekend. You can walk around it, visit the pagoda, take a boat ride... it has just so much to offer. In 5 years in... More
Truly amazing. Beautiful and well maintained soft and hard scapes. A location fully of cultural events. You could easily loose yourself here for a couple of days. Yes it can get crowded, but if you chose your time and locations right you can avoid the overbearing crowd. To really appreciate the cultural depth of this place the discerning travel is... More
I visited the West Lake for the first time. I first rented a bike to check out the periphery of the lake. But, it got too crowded. Bike rental stations are everywhere in Hangzhou. You can rent one and drop it off at any station to sight see on foot, and then pick up a new one. You will need... More
