Takashimaya is located at Shijo and is within walking distance of Gion. It will take you 40 minutes if you walk from Kyoto station. I love its small Taiwanese restaurant (4th floor?), which has dumplings, steam buns and small dishes.

I have been to Kyoto several times and one of my favorite destinations is Takashimaya Department Store. The food floor is out of this world! My favorite section has all the fancy desserts, cookies, candies, cakes, etc. I could wander around for hours just looking at all the different items. And I usually can't resist buying myself a fancy little...

Elegant collection of brand boutiques throughout the store
Yet one might visit
the ceramic collection
the kimono area, with special attention to the small kimono shop along the far wall that has special new and recycled kimonos
forget the big and tall men's area, unless you are a big small person
