Being from India, I found Japanese and Indians worship the same God's. Its an amazing feeling once you are inside the temple. As its the rule, need to remove the shoes outside.. The main God was great..very peaceful and Silent..but there is no place there to Sit and enjoy the beauty :( more

We only had 1 full day in Kyoto and this was one of the places we picked. We were in awe of all the statues and spent a good hour inside. While standing in front of the Buddah, a monk showed up and began chanting and banging a drum. We felt very spiritual. It's a different experience than the other... more

WoW!!!!! This is one of many many temples in Kyoto and could be easily overlooked!!!! dont miss it!!! On entering we walked around the perimeter, not impressed, it just looked like an average Japanese garden with a large wooden building in the middle, unimpressed we headed for the exit, this is when we heard drums and chanting...then we noticed all... more

I'm not a religious person but the display of statues was SO impressive. I am an american who lived in japan for two years and this was the most awe-inspiring temple i've seen in japan, other parts of southeast asia, or in the west. a very humbling and beautiful experience. more
