I wouldn't miss this if I were you. I loved the walk, actually consider it a hike of about 5km through a forest lined with beautiful Red Torii. IT is a sight to see.

We walked the whole path. It is an amazing place. Highly recommended.
This is a good hike up the mountain, while passing under thousands of torii that line trail. Though it is a bit strenuous from the incline, all ages can hike this trail (I saw older Japanese and Western tourists hiking too). Reward yourself by stopping at the sweet shop next to the viewing area. The soft serve ice cream is...

Only knowing a little about eastern religions, I found it very interesting and informative.
Fushimi Inari Shrine is a must see if you are in Kyoto. The sight of the many tori gates lined up one after another is almost breathtaking. We went to the shrine late in the afternoon so we did not get to take the 2 hour hike up the mountain. Take the Keihan line to Fushimi Inari station and there...

The Fushimi Inari Shrine is really spectacular. You can get there easily by a bus (runs only once an hour) or on JR train.
This is different from other shrines. The trails through the tens and tens of Tori Gates are amazing. You get a view over the city up the trail. My favorite shrine in Kyoto. There was no...

I mean that figuratively and literally because there is much hill climbing to do. My only advice is to spend at...

I knew I wanted to visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine after I had seen some of the striking pictures. And, though the pictures are amazing, they do not do the shrine justice! It was simply amazing to be there--quite an experience!
It was very easy to get to by train, and well worth it. It is free to walk around...

Like in a dream, these scattered temples are hidden in a magic and dark forest. It is a bit outside of Kyoto, but easily reachable from the Inari metro station. The place is unlike any other temple in Japan, and thousands of torii are guarding the pathway. It takes around 1-2 hours to make the full circle of the mountain....

If you're into culture, Fushimi Inari is the place to be. I think they are personally on par with Nara.
