I came here as a young Japanese-American, whose family was held in internment camps during the war. Despite the hardships I know my grandparents and others faced, coming here made me realize that I was glad they were not still in Japan during the bombings. This museum is excellent - it deals with a topic which is difficult in many ways. Death is difficult. The science is difficult. I felt it was weakest in explaining the participation of Japan in WWII, and in distinguishing - in a balanced way - between the civilian protest against atomic bombs and the protest against nuclear power. more

I visited this museum not really knowing what to expect. It is about 3 km by tram from the Nagasaki station by tram and a short walk up the hill.
