Since my family and I have never been to any "live" Volcano sites, and the attraction is only 1.5 hours away from Manila. We decided to go. At 12:30, we used a hotel car hire service and by 1:45 we were almost there. The driver kept circling around the neighborhood and told us he was the first time there. I... more

To get to Taal Volcano you need to drive down from Tagaytay to the lakeside, catch an outrigger to the islet where the volcano is. When you get there you will be asked to pay for entrance fee and then forced to pay for a tour guide on the hike up to ridge. The entrance fee would have been ok... more

The Taal Volcano is a stunning sight from most places in Tagaytay. Any number of hotels, and resturants have great views. But, it is an adventure to go to the the crest of the Volcano. And the Volcano that you see is only the small one, the larger volcano is to the left of the smaller volcano It can be... more

I can't see why anyone would bother ever going back to Taal Volcano. The locals are about as ignorant and greedy as anyplace I have ever been. Well quite frankly it is the worst place I ever visited. A tourist trap with a volcano the size of an ant hill is not worth the hassle. I will check out Pinatubo... more

I had a terrible experience in Tagaytay. I'm from Australia however, can understand tagalog.I heard what all the locals were saying about me and my boyfriend. A group of men were following us and hasseling us to go on a boat ride with them to the Taal volcano. When we tried to walk away (and told them goodbye), they kept... more

All I have to say is WOW!!! This was definitely my highlight on my trip to Manila. Not the easiest place to get to (my friend hired me a driver to take me out, we then had to hire a guide to take me up the volcano), but it is worth going to see it. On the way you pass... more

A transfer by motorcycle trike from my Tagaytay hotel cost P100 each way (with a P200 tip - the two staff originally said they would do it for P100 return but it was about 12 kilometres), with the boat trip across to Taal Volcano costing a further P1500 for use of the 'banca' (irrespective of whether one or six passengers... more

I currently live in Manila and am familiar with negotiating taxi rides (for longer distances or if someone won't use the meter) and prices for boats etc. Taxi from Makati to Tagaytay was about $40 USD, seemed to be a fair price. Thankfully (you'll see why in a minute) we had an excellent taxi driver! In Tagaytay we negotiated for... more
