Beautiful area, with huge lakes, dam, fishing facilities, boating facilities & picnic areas
Love hanging out at the lake. My only complaint is that it is really muddy and there are a lot of branches sticking up in the water which could be potentially dangerous for boats.
We no longer own a boat but used to take the kids camping there. Typical state park campground, but it was within easy reach of Raleigh.
without traveling to the ocean ,Jordan lake provides everything you need for a relaxing beach day or day on the water on a boat. I think there are 3 public beaches and 3 or 4 boat ramps. their is also a campground so if you live in the Raleigh/ D urham area and would like to be by the water...

We love going to this place. It's great for camping, walking, barbecue, picnic shlelters, beach, boating etc. Kids have a lot of fun in the play area by the lake/beach. The water is very shallow so great for swimming. Very green and great for spending time outdoors. Bathrooms are not clean but other than that we find everything else alright...

I love renting pontoon boats and hanging out on the water for a whole day. It's just so relaxing, especially at times when there aren't as many boaters. There are areas you can find which are quieter though.
Great state park - for camping and boating. Large lake easy access, can get a bit crowded on Sundays on the lake. If you like wild life so much to see here. We love the eagles. We had deer walking around our camp site at dusk. Almost hit one with my bike. Fun family place.
Very quiet lake- and very few people. It 's good for people who want to have a rest and enjoy the peace during weekend. It is also good for couples to have their private date! The visitor center located near highway 64 has a small meusem about the history and animals around this area. We also drove to the Jordan...

Good baot access form 3 large ramps and other small ones....good beach areas for kids to swim.... dated bathrooms... fees have increased to $6/day... must make camp site resv starting in April to get a good spot. Also has large group camps for scouts...overall clean and safe but can get crowded on holiday weekends
Go in the late spring and early fall, avoid the summer. Especially avoid Memorial Day weekend when there are way too many people. If camping, watch for ticks. We saw a billion. However, for a great day out on the lake, it's a fantastic place.
