We just returned from a trip to the zoo and had a wonderful time. I was afraid my almost two year old was a little too young to enjoy it but she absolutely did. Even my 15 and 12 year olds commented on what a good time they had - I was impressed, lol! We loved the giraffe feeding deck... more

The website for this zoo underplays its appeal. I was expecting a so-so display of animals, but I was very impressed. The habitats were well laid out, the animals were fairly easy to see, and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. We spent almost 5 hours looking at the different animals and reading about them. I've been to zoos all... more

The NC Zoo is spread out into regions -- Africa, North America -- that are very far apart. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. The signs say no backpacks allowed but that did not seem enforced. That definitely helped wth bringing in water bottles, sunscreen, etc. Use your AAA discount if you're a member. It's obvious the zoo... more

We just returned from visiting the Asheboro Zoo. The zoo is larger than the average zoo with lots of walking required, so I'd highly recommend wearing tennis shoes. I made the mistake of wearing flip flops... Frankly, I'd also highly recommend not visiting here in the heat of the summer. Luckily, it was drizzly and breezy the day we visited,... more

I live in Ohio and have been to the Toledo and Columbus zoos which are very nice zoos that have many animals and you don't have to walk far to see them. The NC zoo was nice and clean. It was very affordable. We went after 2 p.m. and could go the next day for free since we got there... more

We visited the NC Zoo this past weekend 5/23/09 and had a great time. The zoo is well maintained and the animals appear to be healthy and well taken care of by the zoo staff. My only complaint is that when the zoo was closing and people were trying to get to the parking area they parked in the staff... more

Took the family to the zoo, overall we had a good time, but there were some issues. There really is not a lot to see. Not as many animals as I would hope to have seen. The park is pretty big, but seem relatively empty. The prices were a good deal considering the free parking, free shuttle and free tram.... more

The North Carolina Zoo is located south of Asheboro and about 40-minutes south of Greensboro. It is a very large zoo that is spread out which allow the animals to roam in a natural habitat. This sometimes hinders your view of the animals as they some times are hiding out of view. The best way to see it is by... more

A large zoo designed with guests in mind. Many wonderful exhibits and a great conservation message. Animals were healthy and active. The zoo's large size, though providing ample room for expansion, does make for long, boring stretches with nothing to see but grass. Its vastness may also lend to disappointingly short visits with small children or those with walking disabilities. more
