We visited Horseshoe Curve while passing through Altoona, PA on a road trip. While we were in the parking lot, 4 trains went by, which was fun to see. We decided to pay the $6/person and walked through the little museum, and then rode the trolley to the top. The story behind the curve is quite interesting if you have... more

My dad and I took an 8-day trip through Pennsylvania, and after hearing about Hitler and the Horseshoe Curve, he wanted to stop in Altoona to see it. Even he admitted it was a waste of time and gas. First of all, the funicular wasn't working, so we had to walk up the 194 steps (my dad is 80 years... more

this is really a waste of time, there are 194 steps and you climb them to find nothing, please do not be fooled the photos on the website, you will really disappoint yourself. It is nothing but waste of time and fuel. Rather than that go out for a movie and you will enjoy it much better than visiting this... more

My husband and I stopped here on our way home from visiting Pittsburgh on a whim. We were so glad we did. It was a very nice experience. If you like or love trains THIS is the place. I have attached pictures from our visit on October 10, 2008 - beautiful views! more

We had a wonderful experience when we visited here for the first time on August 17, 2008. Didn't see any weeds, overgrown grass, it was nicely maintained and very nice to sit and relax, very peaceful. As far as our experience in the gift shop, there was no one there that was rude to us, as a matter of fact... more

Visited the Horseshoe Curve on Saturday, August 16, 2008. The area was overgrown with weeds and brush. Also, while purchasing an engineer hat for my grandson, I was treated very rudely by the cashier in the gift shop. more
